# HUD Section 184 Loan Guarantee Program

**HUD Section 184 Loan Guarantee Program — Fiscal Year 2026 Year-End Closeout**

Please note that effective **September 23, 2026**, HUD will begin its financial year-end closeout for Fiscal Year 2026 covering the Section 184 Indian Housing Loan (Section 184) program.

At the end of every fiscal year, HUD suspends activity on these programs to reconcile financial accounts and set up accounting codes for the new fiscal year. During this closeout period, no new financial obligations can be made under Section 184, Section 184A, or Title VI.

**Cohort Number Cutoff**

- The Section 184 and Title VI programs will stop issuing cohort numbers for any requests received after 
**11:59 p.m. ET on September 22, 2026**

- The Section 184A program will stop issuing cohort numbers for any requests received after 
**11:59 p.m. HST on September 22, 2026**
.
- Case numbers and Loan Guarantee Certificates will continue to be issued as normal throughout the closeout period.

Clients may continue to submit requests for cohort numbers during the closeout window; these requests will be reviewed and responded to once HUD's financial systems reopen in Fiscal Year 2027.

**Reopening Notification**

HUD will take all steps necessary to reopen its financial systems as soon as possible in the new fiscal year and will issue a notification once the closeout period has ended.
